Anabel Ho, Principal (Ballet and Chinese)


Ms. Ho has taught and choreographed for the past twenty-two years. Her training spans the globe and covers the full-spectrum of dance styles with emphasis in classical ballet and Chinese dance. Ms. Ho has trained with internationally noted artists in North America and abroad.

She is widely recognized by her many achievements around the world. Anabel has performed, taught, and choreographed throughout Canada and other regions including the U.S.A, China, the United KIngdom, France, Germany, Greece, Netherlands, Poland, and Taiwan.

Ms. Ho’s credentials include: Associate and Advanced Executant of the Royal Academy of Dance. Fully Registered Teacher of the Royal Academy of Dance and Associate of the Imperial Society Teachers of Dance (London, England). She is also certified under the Acrobatic Arts program.

Ms. Ho has presented command performances for Her Majesty the Queen, Governor General and Prime Minister of Canada as well as royalties and Heads of State of many countries. She has been invited to adjudicate dance competitions throughout North America and has been commissioned to choreograph for several productions including: Rick Hansen’s 100th Anniversary TV Special on CBC, Nissan Go 2000 Dealership Convention, APEC Conference, International Dragon Boat Festival, Chinese Cultural Centre’s Millennium Project “Gold, Maple, Dreams” Dance Production, CBC’s Gung Haggis Fat Choy and various other large events.

Anabel has also acted as a choreography consultant for National Ice Dancing Champions Meaghan Wing, and Erin Lowe. Ms. Ho produced dance performances for the movie “Deep Risings” and Buena Vista’s Vancouver promotions of the Disney movie “Mulan”. Ms Ho was invited to choreograph for the Queen’s Royal Visit to B.C., the 2010 Sea to Sky Bid for the International Olympic Committee, the United Nations World Urban Forum Closing Ceremonies, CCTV’s New Year Special “The Same Song”, and for all the Premier’s of Canada for the launch of the Canada Pavilion at the Beijing’s Olympics. Anabel was also selected as an advisor to the Opening Ceremonies of the Vancouver 2010 Olympics and Paralympics. She directed and choreographed works presented to the International Olympic Committee, Governor General Michelle Jean, and the Premier Gordon Campbell for the IOC “Red Lanterns” was performed for Prime Minister Stephen Harper during his visit to Vancouver in celebrating of Chinese New Year 2010.

Lisa Ho

Lisa Ho (Ballet, Jazz, Chinese)

Lisa is an accomplished dancer, singer, actor, and choreographer. Her background include Ballet, Jazz, Lyrical, Tap, Contemporary, Musical Theatre and Chinese Dance. She is a graduate of the VAD and the Strathcona Chinese Dance Company and has trained at prestigious dance schools including Toronto Dance Theatre, The Dance Centre, The Edge Performing Arts Center, Broadway Dance Center, and Beijing Dance Academy. She has garnered many awards as a dancer and choreographer and currently resides in New York, where she performed for the first National Tour of Shrek. Other credits include: A Chorus Line (Broadway), Mamma Mia! (Toronto), Miss Saigon (Arts Club Theater Company), High School Musical (NSMT), and ABC/Disney’s “Once Upon a Mattress.”


Simon Sylvain Lalonde (Ballet)

Born in Montreal.Simon Sylvain Lalonde trained as a classical ballet dancer at Les Grandes Ballet Canadiens and the National Ballet School. He has performed leading roles with numerous companies in North America and abroad. He has toured extensively across Canada, the United States, South America, Asia and Europe. Simon’s expertise lies in teaching Ballet Class, Pointe, Variations and Pas de Deux. The strength of his teachings lies in offering a broad range of technical impendent in the learning of Classical Ballet. For over 20 years he has been invited as a guest Ballet teacher in various schools such as Fuji Ballet Academy in Sapporo, the Cardinal Carter Academy for the Arts in Toronto and also for professional companies such a the Guangzhou Ballet in China, Toronto’s Xing Dance Theatre, the Canadian Pacific Ballet in Victoria and the Empire State Ballet in New York. Simon Sylvain expanded the breadth of his teaching in 1998 when he began to coach competitive figure skaters, designing classes specifically geared for skaters to help them improve their lines, movement and musicality. His students have continued on to become international and Canadian junior and senior champions in pairs, singles,ice dancing, and synchronize skating categories.


Robert Policarpio

Robert Policarpio (Ballet)

Robert hails from Manila, Philippines. He danced professionally with Philippine Ballet Theatre and Ballet Philippines where he performed soloist roles from the classical repertory and in works of international choreographers such a Robery Barnet, Tom Pazik, Paul de Masson, Jan Linkens, Agnes Locsin, and George Balanchine, just to name a few. Robert also works as a ballet restager; He had the opportunity to travel to China to restage the ballet “La Gitana” for the Central Ballet of China and the ballet “Camille” for the Beijing Dance Academy. Upon retiring from the dance scene, Robert moved to Brunei, Darussalam to become the resident ballet teacher/director of the Panaga Dance Centre for 17 years until his migration to Canada in 2010. Robert is a certified Royal Academy of Dance (R.A.D) teacher and a Stott Pilates instructor.

Junie Heng

Junie Heng (Ballet)

Trained in RAD and ISTD methods, Junie has danced with renowned facilities across Canada. As well as New York, Los Angeles and Beijing. Her performance experience has brought her to stages worldwide and she brings to the Academy outstanding artistic and technical abilities.

Heather Laura Gray (Contemporary and Lyrical)

Heather Laura Gray began her training at L’École Superior de Dance du Quebec, The Goh Ballet and trained independently in voice, acting and many other dance styles in Toronto and Vancouver. She has performed on stage and screen as an actor, singer and dancer. In Vancouver, Heather has worked with  the response. Dance Company (3 seasons), Restless Productions (since 2009), Martha Carter’s “Speaking in Ligeti”  and in May with Dancers Dancing. Recently, Heather was choreographer on the set of the Fox Series “The Killing”, the Canadian feature film “Random Acts of Romance” and 10 episodes of “Bobs and Lolo” for Tree House. Heather adjudicates and teaches master classes across North America where she continues to share her passion in all things dance.

Jenny Duffy (Jazz, Musical Theatre, Hip Hop, KPOP)
Jenny is an award-winning choreographer and dance educator, trained in Vancouver, New York, Los Angeles, Hong Kong and China. She has danced for many recording artists (Michael Buble, K-OS, The Black Eyed Peas, Brian Adams, Young MC, and Moka Only), and works in Vancouver’s television and film industry as a choreographer and actor.

Jenny an official CFL Choreographer and leads the BC Lions Felions Dance team. She is a faculty member at Harbour Dance Centre where she is artistic director of the Endangered Dance Company. She is also resident choreographer and board member for the Seven Tyrants Theatre Company. Additionally, she instructs the Dance Movement for Television and Film Actors curriculum, which she developed herself, at Vanarts Institute of Media and Design. She also works as an Assistant Talent Agent with Pamela Wise Talent, helping dancers get paying work in the film industry.

Jenny’s formal education includes her Bachelors of Commerce in Accounting (with honours) and her CA/CPA accounting designation. However, her passion lies in dancing she is excited to bring her wealth of experience and unique training background to the students at Vancouver Academy of Dance. Visit her at:


Maryana Dudchenko (Ballroom)

Maryana Dudchenko began her dancing career at the age of 4 in Ukraine. Since moving to Canada with her family in 2000, she continued to dance ballroom competitively traveling all over North America and Europe representing British Columbia. Other then ballroom dancing, Maryana enjoyed training in ballet, rhythmic gymnastics, acting, musical theatre and piano over the years, but in the end choose ballroom dancing as a career. Since receiving her teaching license in 2010, she has been teaching ballroom to people of all ages as well as training herself. She is currently the top Latin competitor in British Columbia, one of the top Under 21 competitors in North America, and is Canadian Latin finalist.



Angela King (Jazz, Tap, Musical Theatre)

Angela is currently a student at Simon Fraser University. She started dancing at a young age and has extensive training in ballet, jazz, tap, stage and musical theatre. Angela has competed in many local dance competitions as well as attending different dance conventions and workshops throughout the lower mainland and in the States. She performed in the Opening Ceremonies for the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. She has also appeared in many theatre productions including High School Musical 2 (URP), Singing in the Rain (TUTS), Will Rogers Follies (RCMT), Anything Goes (TUTS), Hello Dolly (RCMT), and The Music Man (TUTS), and most recently Oklahoma (RCMT). Angela is the recipient of various scholarships and awards for merit. As well as dance, Angela is also an accomplished pianist and vocalist who is excited to share her love of performing with her students.

 Valerie Ho

Valerie “Ms Vee” Ho (Breakdance, Hip Hop, Jazz Guest Choreographer)

Valerie Ho, also known as “Ms Vee,” is a multi-faceted dancer and performer whose movement background includes Hip Hop (Freestyle,Breaking, Popping, Locking), House, Chinese, Jazz, Tap, Ballet, Modern, Swing, Salsa, Chinese Martial Arts (Wushu), Capoeria, Street Dance, and Hip-Hop culture. Vee has studied with such greats as Mr. Wiggles, Skeeter, Rabbit, Poppin’ Pete, Greg Camplerock Jr, Ken Swift, and Buddha Stretch to name a few. Performance highlights include dancing for Queen Elizabeth II and in the Broadway and touring productions of Reenie Harris’ Legends of Hip-Hop, performing with the renowned Hop-Hop companies MotopMusic and Movement and the The Groovaloos, and touring the world with Strathcona Chinese Dance Company. As a dance instructor, she has  Bachelor’s of Education, Bachelor’s of Human Kinetics and over 11 years of teaching with all levels and all ages, creating fun, challenging and informative classes and workshops across North America and Asia.


Ryan Williams (Hip Hop)
Ryan Williams, born in Surrey BC, is trained in street dance styles and commercial hip hop. His training includes SOULdiers Dance Company, directed by Kim Sato, Harbour Dance Centre’s  MYM and KTL. After training in Las Vegas for an Elite Locking Camp, Ryan made top 16 in Locking at Canada’s largest street dance event: Bust A Move 2014. Other credits include: Sonic Radio 104.9, TV’s Witches of East End  Season 2 directed by Debbie Allen, Surrey School District, Jess Dance Co.
Jamie (Ballet)
Jamie has been teaching in the Vancouver area for four years. In 2009, Jamie graduated from the University of Utah with a Master of Fine Arts in Ballet – Emphasis in Teaching and Choreography. Proir to this, she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Dance from the University of Calgary where she specialized in ballet, Jamie also holds her Associate Diploma in Imperial Ballet from the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing. Jamie is currently completing her Bachelor of Kinesiology at the University of British Columbia.


Jamie Rebecca (Acrobatics)
Jamie started her circus career at age 10 with Westcoast Contortion & Acrobatics and was one of 6 WCA contortionist who were invited to train at the Las Vegas Contortion Convention sponsored by Cirque Du Soliel. Jamie started Aerial Silk training at Vancouver Circus School at age 16 & was hooked instantaneously to the fearless art. Her first professional Aerial Silk gig was on her 18th birthday, with WCA at a party for Kohler Canada. She has trained exclusively with Kristi Toguchi since 2007 in Vancouver & Las Vegas, specializing in Aerial Silk & Lyra. Jamie is a first generation circus performer, BCRPA personal trainer, AFSA & CDTA certified dance teacher, as well as a 200 hour Ashtanga/ Iyengar Yoga Instructor.

 Tosh Sutherland (Tap)
  Tosh Sutherland (Tap)  Tosh Sutherland is a local Vancouver Tap Artist. Some of his career highlights include an all tap dance production in Toronto called ‘i Think i Can’ and touring abroad with Princess Cruises. Tosh has taught tap in Toronto at ‘City Dance Corps’ and has conducted a number of workshops in Ontario. He is excited to be able to share what he has learned with the newest generation of dancers



Regan Calicetto

For the past 18 years, Regan has enjoyed training and performing in acro, contemporary, ballet, hiphop, jazz and tap. After training and performing with professionals such as Michelle Smith, Moses Asher Christian, Tiffany Tregarthen, Tara-Jean Popowich and many others, Regan started dancing professionally for many different companies, such as The Underground Circus, Sweet Moves and more. Regan has an Acrobatic Arts certification, which allows Regan to safely guide students though acro training and put them through exams. Regan’s well rounded dance training has allowed her to push the boundaries of basic acro routines. Regan is currently teaching acro workshops and classes throughout BC, and continues to train and perform regularly in Vancouver.

Elizabeth Lefor (Ballet)

Born in Toronto and raised in Vancouver, Elizabeth has been dancing since the age of three. Growing up, her love of dance led to extensive training under a variety of teachers locally and internationally. Elizabeth has trained and performed competitively in classical ballet with her focus shifting toward teaching in past years. With a developing passion for teaching, Elizabeth completed a BA Honours in Dance Education and Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) Teachers Certification through the University of Surrey in London, England in 2006. Elizabeth has held her Registered Teachers status with the RAD for the past seven years.  Elizabeth is excited to be a part of the VAD this year!
